posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Ryōzō Tsujimoto, producer of CAPCOM's Monster Hunter series, announced at the Tokyo Game Show event on Thursday that a Hollywood live-action film project based on the Monster Hunter games is in the works.
The first installment in the Monster Hunter action game series shipped in 2004 for the PlayStation 2. In the games, players act as hunters who gather and maintain equipment for the purpose of venturing forth from villages to slay a variety of different monsters.
The latest installment in the series is the Monster Hunter Generations Nintendo 3DS game, released in Japan last November, and in the West in July. Monster Hunter Stories, an upcoming game in the series, is slated for October 8 in Japan. The game is the series' first foray into the role-playing game genre. Monster Hunter Stories is inspiring the Monster Hunter Stories RIDE ON television anime, also premiering this October. The anime will be the first anime in the Monster Hunter franchise.
