Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet Gets Anime Tie-in Short
posted on by Karen Ressler
Bandai Namco Entertainment began streaming the "pilot edition" of an animated short inspired by the Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet game. The anime is titled Sword Art Online Fatal Bullet -The Third Episode-. The complete version will air on Tokyo MX on March 19.
The website describes the anime as a "third episode" that is not part of the Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet story. The short follows a boy looking for a girl he met in the Gun Gale Online game. The boy believes they have a connection, but to the girl their connection is part of a fantasy. The time to test whether their bond is real or fantasy will come.
YKBX is directing the short. The staff are holding an audition for the girl character over Twitter, where those interested can submit recordings of themselves reading a line provided by the website.
The Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC game launched in Japan on February 8, and will then launch in the West on February 23.
Dimps is developing the game. The game will be a third-person shooter and the first role-playing game based in the fictional Gun Gale Online virtual-reality massively multiple online role-playing game. Original light novel creator Reki Kawahara is supervising the game's original story. Players' choices and interaction will determine the course of the story.
Disclosure: Bandai Namco Filmworks Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Bandai Namco Holdings Inc., is a non-controlling, minority shareholder in Anime News Network Inc.
