Suzume Released in Multiple U.K. Home Formats on Monday

posted on by Andrew Osmond

On Monday April 1, Crunchyroll will release Makoto Shinkai's film Suzume in several formats. There will be a limited Blu-ray/DVD edition (pictured right), including four art cards, a 60-page art book, and a bonus disc of special features. There will also be a Blu-ray/DVD Steelbook, which will also include the bonus disc; and standard Blu-ray and DVD editions.

Comix Wave Films described the story:

On the other side of the door, was time in its entirety—

17-year-old Suzume's journey begins in a quiet town in Kyushu when she encounters a young man who tells her, “I'm looking for a door.” What Suzume finds is a single weathered door standing upright in the midst of ruins as though it was shielded from whatever catastrophe struck. Seemingly mesmerized by its power, Suzume reaches for the knob…

Doors begin to open one after another all across Japan, unleashing destruction upon any who are near. Suzume must close these portals to prevent further disaster.

The stars
The sunset
The morning sky

Within that realm, it was as though all time had melted together in the sky—

Drawn in by this mysterious door, Suzume's journey is about to begin.

Shinkai stated that three important points about the film are that it is a road movie around Japan, a story about "closing doors" rather than opening them, and a reason to visit the movie theater. He elaborated that closing doors can refer to tying loose ends or finishing something.

Shinkai (your name., Weathering With You) directed the film and wrote the screenplay. He was also credited with the original story. Masayoshi Tanaka (your name., Weathering With You) designed the characters. Kenichi Tsuchiya (your name., Garden of Words) was the animation director. Takumi Tanji (Children Who Chase Lost Voices) was the art director. CoMix Wave Films and STORY inc. produced the movie. Toho distributed the film. RADWIMPS scored the film. RADWIMPS and Shinkai previously collaborated on Shinkai's your name. and Weathering With You anime films. Seattle-based Hollywood film composer, Kazuma Jinnouchi (Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, RWBY: Ice Queendom) scored the film alongside RADWIMPS. TikTok performer Toaka performed one of the two theme songs "Suzume."

Crunchyroll will also release a Blu-ray edition of RWBY Ice Queendom. Rooster Teeth described the anime:

"RWBY imagines a world filled with horrific monsters bent on death and destruction, and humanity's only hope is dependent upon powerful Huntsmen and Huntresses. Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long are four such Huntresses in training whose journeys will take them far past the grounds of their school, Beacon Academy. Though each may be powerful on their own, these four girls must overcome dark forces and work as a team if they truly hope to become the next generation of Remnant's protectors."

Toshimasa Suzuki (Lagrange - The Flower of Rin-ne, The Price of Smiles) directed the anime at SHAFT. Kenjirō Okada (March comes in like a lion) was credited as chief director. Gen Urobuchi (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Fate/Zero novels, Psycho-Pass) was credited for conceptualizing the anime, with Tow Ubukata (Mardock Scramble, Psycho-Pass 2, Ghost in the Shell: Arise) wrote and supervised the scripts. huke (Black Rock Shooter, Steins;Gate) conceptualized the character designs for the anime, while Nobuhiro Sugiyama (ef: a tale of memories, Arakawa Under the Bridge, March comes in like a lion) designed those characters for animation, while also serving as chief animation director alongside Yoshiaki Ito and Hiroki Yamamura. Nobuyuki Takeuchi (Maria Holic, Bakemonogatari) was credited for visual direction. Nobuko Toda and Kazuma Jinnouchi composed the music.

Members of the original English cast and the Japanese dub reprised the roles for the anime. Void_Chords feat. L performed the opening theme song "Beyond Selves." Saori Hayami performed the ending theme song "Awake."

Anime Limited will release the first season of Rent-A-Girlfriend on Blu-ray. Kazuomi Koga (Rainy Cocoa, Welcome to Rainy Color) directed the anime at TMS Entertainment, and Mitsutaka Hirota (Anime-Gataris, Nanbaka, The Prince of Tennis II) supervised the series scripts. Kanna Hirayama designed the characters, and HYADAIN composed the music.

Kodansha Comics published the manga in English, and it describes the story:

"In Japan, the lonely have a new way out — online services that rent out dads, children, even girlfriends. When Kazuya's true love dumps him, he's just desperate enough to try it, and he's shocked at how cute and sweet his rental girlfriend turns out to be. But she wants to keep their 'relationship' a secret, and there's a complication... she goes to his university... and their grandmothers are in the same home... and they live next door to each other? And Kazuya finds out she's not nearly as nice in 'real life..'"

Miyajima launched the manga in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine in July 2017.

Anime Limited will also release a Collector's Blu-ray edition of Part 1 of Gundam Build Fighters Try, the sequel to Gundam Build Fighters. It will carry the first thirteen episodes of the series.

The story takes place seven years after the seventh Gunpla Battle World Tournament. Since then, the rules of Gunpla have been renewed, and the popularity of the sport becomes even more popular. However, one academy is left behind in this change, and that was Seiho Academy, which Sei Iori once attended. The only member of the Gunpla Battle club remaining is Fumina Hoshino, and her alone. In the state the club is in, she is not even able to participate in the preliminaries for Japan's national Gunpla tournament. In front of her, a single transfer student named Sekai Kamiki appears, a boy who has been training with his master in martial arts. Along with him and the young Gunpla builder Yūma Yūsaka, Fumina forms a new team.

Anime Limited will also release a standard Blu-ray edition of Burn the Witch.
