Oh man, now I'm thinking of going to ACEN just for these singers. Anyone here who has been to ACEN have opinions on whether it's a fun con to go to? Have been to AX, and several comic-cons for comparison.

Honestly the staff are badly organized and last year there was a huge communication issue with the autograph area staff and the staff in charge of the ticketing. They just weren't letting people in and I had to beg to get me and a few others in for the free autograph time that was at the will of the staff that had no contact with the people in charge.

Your fun might vary, I know at least the concert part of the con is well run. I got a front row seat to the Fhána concert without any hassle .

ACen is my favorite con. Best facilities, best content. For reference, I’ve also been to AX, Otakon, AWA, Youmacon, and JAFAX. I wrote a tweetstorm comparing the cons here.

I briefly forgot I was indeed going back to Acen and wished I could until I remembered I am! I had a good time last time I was there, and have heard good things, but I haven’t been since like 2008, so I can’t vouch for it personally.

Thanks for the responses! Decided to pickup tickets and got hotel all sorted out. I can't believe the tickets were so cheap! ($58 for the whole weekend vs the $425 for AX premiere pass.) Also nice that the airport is so close.

What ninjapet refers to was, I think, a fluke, or perhaps just limited to the autograph lines. I have gone for several years and have generally found the 'con to be well-organized and relatively efficiently-run.

And yeah, the airport being literally next-door is a nice perk if you have to fly in. (Actually rather annoying for those of us who drive and have to deal with airport-related traffic. . .)
