Goods From Shueisha's Ao Haru Magazine Show Off the Eclectic Side of Manga

posted on by Chris Nishijima
Celebrate the spring of youth with products based on Ao Haru.

When most fans think of Japanese publishing company Shueisha, they think of manga such as Naruto, One Piece, or Bleach. Often times we forget about their irregularly published Ao Haru magazine, which focuses on publishing coming of age stories. Well, the folks at Comic Natalie have come up with a solution to that, with a new line of Ao Haru goods, available only through the Comic Natalie store.

First up is a set of items made to bear the likeness of the six heroines meant to represent the Ao Haru magazine as a whole. Illustrated by popular artist Atsuya Uki (Cencoroll and Oreimo), these products capture the true feeling of youth with their lighthearted and bubbly designs. First up is the Ao Haru decorative curtain. Made of 100% polyester and measuring in at 178x100cm (about 70x39in), this curtain costs a total of 20,000 yen (about 196.29 USD), and is perfect for adding a refreshing flair to any room. This design is also available as an iPhone case for 3,800 yen (about 37.33 USD)

In addition to this, uki has made two other designs featuring the mascot heroines of Ao Haru. The first of these is titled "Maiko's Aoi Haru," and features one of the heroines surrounded by a sea of stuffed animals. This design is available on a 100% cotton T-shirt for 6,500 yen (about 63.80 USD). The second design is titled "AOHR" and features a familiar scene of a school girl with her bag slung over her shoulder. This design is available either in a grey or blue T-shirt for 3,500 yen (about 34.35 USD), or an iPhone case for 3,800 yen (about 37.33 USD).

Comic Natalie has also released products based on two of Ao Haru's serialized manga, Kuro and Anarchy in the JK. Designed by their respective authors, Soumatou and Hikari Ichihara, these two designs are available either as T-shirts for 3,500 yen (about 34.35 USD), or iPhone cases for 3,800 yen (about 37.33 USD).

Ao Haru other serialized manga include Hikari to Tsue no Uta, The Mark of Wetzel, and Resuto Fujin. For more on Ao Haru's publication, visit the official website.
