posted on by Carlos Cadorniga
A brand new Japanese web comic places these Japanese pop singers in a grand battle royale.
The underground idol group known as Masked Girls are being illustrated on Kadokawa Web in Masked Girls: Steam Guns Girl. Much like the idol group donning masks for their performances, Steam Guns Girl depicts a group of poor girls that live in the isolated city of Steam Guns that wear masks when participating in a series of battles known as the Masquerade. Their goal is to fight to the top and earn the prestigious title of "Masked Girls". The protagonist is Hatchet, a girl who arrives to Steam Guns from the outside world in search of her lost sister.
A promotional video was recently posted, showing the real band announcing the web comic at a recent performance. The comic began serialization on June 30.
Masked Girls' January 2015 single, "Genkidane", became the #1 single on the Oricon Weekly Singles chart upon release, making the band the first independent female music group to do so.
