Seven Deadly Sins Collab with AR App Allows Users to Take Pictures With 'Life-Size' Characters

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

To commemorate the upcoming release of the The Seven Deadly Sins the Movie: Prisoners of the Sky anime film, the franchise is collaborating with the AR app "HoloModels" for a special event.

Starting on August 1, visitors to Tokyo Tower can take part in a "Seven Deadly Sins Riddle-Solving Event" at three spots. Those who solve the riddles at all three spots will receive a collaborative post card. Fans who complete the event will also get special access in the "HoloModels" app for a "limited life-size AR sticker" version of Meliodas and other characters from the film. The event runs through September 2.

The event takes about 30 minutes to complete. Fans will need to purchase a ticket to get to the main deck of Tokyo Tower, but the event itself is otherwise free. Those who take pictures with the stickers can enter a contest by posting the picture on Twitter with the hashtag #七つの大罪AR, for a chance to win an acrylic key holder of Meliodas dressed as Tokyo Tower.

HoloModels has posted a video of how the whole thing works once you have access to the stickers.

In addition, HoloModels will also sell stickers for characters from the The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of The Commandments television anime in the future. Ban and King will be available for fans to purchase in September, and Meliodas, Elizabeth, and Hawk will be available to purchase in October.

The HoloModels app itself is free to download.

The film will open in Japan on August 18, will feature a completely new story by original manga creator Nakaba Suzuki. In the story, [Highlight white text to read spoilers for the end of the first anime season] a little time has passed since The Seven Deadly Sins and Princess Elizabeth brought peace to the kingdom. To celebrate the king's birthday, The Seven Deadly Sins travel to a remote land in search of the phantom ingredient "sky fish." Meliodas and Hawk end up at a "Sky Palace" that exists above the clouds, where all the residents have wings. Meliodas is mistaken for a boy who committed a crime and is thrown in prison. Meanwhile, the residents are preparing a ceremony for defense against a ferocious beast that awakens once every 3,000 years. But the Six Knights of Black, a Demon Clan army, arrives and removes the seal on the beast in order to threaten the lives of the residents of Sky Palace. Meliodas and his allies meet the Six Knights of Black in battle.
