She wrote: "Just now, I was walking through the Golden Gai when a gay man I didn't know walked past me and grabbed my chest. I think he said, "I thought that was a gay [man], but it was a lesbian." (The woman I was walking with was just a drinking buddy, and we weren't in that kind of relationship.)"
She emphasized: "I have absolutely no personal prejudice against LGBT. However, the act itself was sexual harassment. The problem is with the individual. I think it's time to acknowledge that."
Ogata made her debut as Kurama in Yū Yū Hakusho, and went on to play a variety of both male and female roles, including Shinji Ikari (Neon Genesis Evangelion) and Haruka Tenou/Sailor Uranus (Sailor Moon series). Her more recent roles include ADA (Ingress), Tsubaki (Konohana Kitan), and Yukito Tsukishiro/Yue (Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card). In February, she announced that she had established her own talent agency.
