Final Fantasy VIII's Rinoa Joins Dissidia Final Fantasy NT PS4 Game

Character also joined arcade game on Thursday

Square Enix began streaming a character trailer for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, the PlayStation 4 version of the Dissidia Final Fantasy arcade game, on Thursday. The video reveals and previews the character Rinoa Heartilly from Final Fantasy VIII as the game's next DLC character. She will fight with her dog Angelo at her side. Rinoa will debut in the game in August. Kana Hanazawa voices the character.

Rinoa also joined the main Dissidia Final Fantasy arcade game in Japan on Thursday.

Sony also began streaming a launch trailer on Wednesday for the DLC character Locke from Final Fantasy VI. Locke joined the game last month.

The game shipped in Japan on January 11, and in Europe and North America on January 30. The game previously added Vayne from Final Fantasy XII in April, and plans to release three more characters in October, December, and February.

The game features a 3 vs. 3 battle system, 28 heroes and villains, and 14 stages. The game also includes a summons gauge that players can use to summon Ifrit and other popular Final Fantasy summons when the gauge is full. Koei Tecmo Games' Team Ninja (Dead or Alive series) developed the arcade game, which uses technology from a PlayStation 4 core system instead of a dedicated arcade circuit board.

Square Enix released Dissidia Final Fantasy, a PlayStation Portable fighting game featuring Final Fantasy heroes and villains, in 2008 in Japan, and in 2009 in other parts of the world. The company then released the Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy sequel in 2011 for the PSP with new characters, stages, and story.

Dissidia Final Fantasy launched in Japanese arcades in November 2015.

Square Enix launched the Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia game on smartphones in February 2017 after a delay. The game's Western release also launched on January 30.
